Mangaluru: The trailer of the Nayanthara starrer Mookuthi Amman, premiering this Diwali on Disney+ Hotstar, has taken Kannadigas — especially coastal Kannadigas — by surprise. The reason? It features none other than Star Sports 1 Kannada’s sports presenter Madhu Mailankody in a memorable cameo.
The Tamil film, an intriguing blend of social drama and comedy, will also be released in Telugu and Malayalam. For many Kannadigas, Madhu’s presence in the film came as an unexpected delight — and her desi expressions in the trailer have already set off a meme storm across multiple languages on social media.

A sought after emcee and sports presenter, Madhu had never seriously considered acting. But when her friend RJ Balaji, who directed Mookuthi Amman, invited her to play his sister in the film, she hesitated — yet ultimately said yes.
“I am yet to master acting. This was my first attempt and a completely new experience. Anchoring — whether on stage or for sports — always has a camera on me. But films are different; I had to adjust my body language and actions to fit the frame, especially when sharing screen space with others,” she explains.
