Kadaba, Feb 21: A brief spell of light drizzle in parts of Kadaba taluk of Dakshina Kannada late Thursday night and early Friday morning has left residents puzzled after unusual yellow spots were found at locations where raindrops had fallen.

The drizzle, reported from Kombarusiribagilu and Kaikamba areas, largely went unnoticed during the night. However, by morning, residents observed yellow stains on house courtyards, plants, and even on clothes that had been left out to dry overnight.

Locals said that once the moisture evaporated, the marks appeared as fine yellow powder when gently wiped with cotton or cloth, adding to the curiosity and concern among residents.

On checking nearby surroundings, similar yellow stains were reportedly found in multiple spots across the locality, indicating that the phenomenon was not limited to a single household or area.

Following information from residents, officials from the revenue department visited the affected locations and collected samples of the yellow-coloured substance for examination. Authorities stated that the exact nature and cause of the deposits would be confirmed only after the laboratory analysis.

The test report is awaited, and further action will be taken based on the findings, officials said.
