Bengaluru: The Congress high command has approved the names of 20 legislators for induction into the Karnataka cabinet, paving the way for the much-anticipated cabinet expansion.
Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar reportedly received a letter on August 3 containing the list of legislators cleared for inclusion in the cabinet.
The approved names are:
- P M Narendraswamy
- Shivaraj Tangadagi
- Rudrappa Lamani
- K S Basavanthappa
- B Nagendra
- T Raghumoorthy
- B Z Zameer Ahmed Khan
- Rizwan Arshad
- Santosh Lad
- Madhu Bangarappa
- Putturangashetty
- Mankala Vaidya
- Ajay Singh
- N Chaluvaraya Swamy
- K M Shivalinge Gowda
- H C Balakrishna
- Gayathri Shanthegowda
- Basvaraj Rayareddi
- Vijayanand Kashappanavar
- Laxman Savadi
Names approved for presiding officers
The Congress high command has also finalised the names of legislators to be nominated for the posts of Speaker and Deputy Speaker in the Karnataka Legislative Assembly and the Legislative Council.
For the Legislative Assembly, the proposed names are:
• Speaker: G.S. Patil
• Deputy Speaker: A.S. Ponanna
For the Legislative Council, the proposed names are:
• Speaker: Saleem Ahmed
• Deputy Speaker: Umashree
The legislators are expected to be sworn in on August 3 in Bengaluru. Meanwhile, the Bengaluru Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory for commuters in view of the swearing-in ceremony.
