Mangaluru: Efforts are under way to trace Shadrack Emmanuel, a 41-year-old man from Mangaluru who has been untraceable in Israel since October 16, after a phone call with his family was abruptly disconnected. His family has appealed to the Indian Embassy and public representatives for help in locating him.

Shadrack is a resident of Kodakkal in Kannur, near Padil in Mangaluru. He travelled to Israel on May 16, 2025, on an employment visa after securing a job through a recruitment agency in Mangaluru. He initially worked for a company in Tel Aviv before reportedly joining UCT Liquid Solutions, a construction company in Nof HaGalil, near Nazareth in northern Israel.

According to his family, Shadrack regularly kept in touch with them through WhatsApp calls. On the night of October 16, he spoke to his family over a video call for around 22 minutes. However, the call got disconnected while they were speaking, and they have been unable to contact him since then. He also sent a message to his wife at 8.49 pm that night.

His mobile phone has remained unreachable, and he has reportedly not reported for work since the incident. Repeated attempts by his family and friends in Israel to reach him have failed, leaving his relatives increasingly anxious about his whereabouts.

“His call got disconnected while we were speaking on the night of October 16. Since then, my son has not answered our calls,” his mother, Ratna, told reporters on Tuesday.

Seeking urgent assistance, the family emailed a complaint to the Indian Embassy in Tel Aviv on October 21. They have also approached Dakshina Kannada MP Captain Brijesh Chowta, Mangaluru City Police Commissioner Sudhir Kumar Reddy and Karnataka Minister U T Khader, requesting their intervention to trace Shadrack.

MP Captain Brijesh Chowta said he had written to the Union Minister for External Affairs, bringing the matter to his attention. He added that the Indian Embassy in Israel was making efforts to locate Shadrack. The MP also said he had spoken to the Consul General of Israel in Bengaluru regarding the matter.

The family is awaiting further information and continues to seek assistance from the authorities to establish Shadrack’s whereabouts and ensure his safe return.
