Mangaluru, July 27: IAS officer Rahul Ratnam Pandey formally assumed charge as the new Commissioner of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) on Monday.
A 2018-batch IAS officer of the Karnataka cadre, Pandey succeeds KAS officer Ravichandra Nayak, who was recently transferred by the state government.
Prior to his new assignment, Pandey served as the Managing Director of Karnataka State Medical Supplies Corporation Limited (KSMSCL) in Bengaluru, where he oversaw the procurement and supply of medical equipment and medicines across the state.
Originally from Uttar Pradesh, Pandey was appointed as MCC Commissioner following the transfer of Ravichandra Nayak. The state government had issued the transfer and appointment order last week.
Pandey is expected to oversee key civic initiatives in Mangaluru, including infrastructure development, sanitation, public health, urban planning and implementation of various municipal projects.
